School Social Worker The Learning Center Day School
Position Summary
The School Social Worker at The Learning Center Day School provides therapeutic support and leadership for students with significant social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. This position focuses on promoting emotional regulation, building positive relationships, and developing trauma informed systems and practices that support student success across the school environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide individual and group counseling services focused on emotional regulation, social skills, coping strategies, and behavioral support.
* Collaborate with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to address social emotional and behavioral needs.
* Develop and implement trauma informed, relationship based interventions and supports across the school setting.
* Support crisis prevention, intervention, and de-escalation efforts.
* Conduct functional behavior assessments and assist in developing behavior intervention plans and individualized support strategies.
* Provide consultation and coaching to staff regarding trauma informed practices, behavior support, and social emotional learning.
* Assist in creating and maintaining therapeutic programming that promotes a safe, supportive, and predictable learning environment.
* Facilitate family engagement and connect families with community resources and services.
* Participate in multidisciplinary teams, student support meetings, and special education processes as appropriate.
* Maintain required documentation, records, and compliance with state, federal, and district regulations.
Qualifications
* Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
* Current Kansas Social Work licensure (or ability to obtain licensure).
* Experience working with children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges preferred.
* Knowledge of trauma informed care, therapeutic interventions, crisis response, and behavior support strategies.
* Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship building skills.
