Position Overview
Staff Auditor in the Division of Audit for the Department of Health and Human Services, located in Augusta, Maine. Full‑time with partial telework allowed.
LocationAugusta, Maine. Full‑time positions located in Augusta, Maine and allow for partial telework with management approval.
Core Responsibilities- Perform professional audit work under direction of senior auditors on Maine Care Providers and/or Community Agencies who receive state and federal funds through contracts with DHHS.
- Complete financial and/or compliance audits for conformance to established laws, rules, regulations and standards.
- Gain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Federal grants while growing professionally.
- Six (6) years of practical, progressively responsible accounting or auditing experience at the professional level.
- Or hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Or meet the requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant’s Examination (at least 150 semester hours of education, including a minimum 4‑year baccalaureate or higher degree conferred by a college or university acceptable to the board, and shall consist of at least 15 hours of accounting, auditing and ethics, which must include at least three hours of auditing and three hours of accounting).
