Accounting Support Specialist

Augusta, Maine. Department:
Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Corrections Service Center. The role handles Accounts Payables for the Department of Corrections' facility accounts and supports fixed assets, providing financial services to correctional facilities.
- Process, review, and reconcile invoices.
- Collect documentation for Procurement Card transactions.
- Analyze data and reconcile accounts.
- Produce monthly and seasonal financial reports.
- Provide excellent customer service and adapt to changing priorities.
- Manage daily tasks independently while collaborating with the team.
- Apply accounting principles to income statements and balance sheets, and advise on improvements in accounting controls.
- Entry‑level to intermediate education, training, or experience in accounting, administrative support, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, and terminology.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and systems.
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and standardized desktop technology.
- Ability to verify fiscal source documents, apply fees, refunds, collections, and discounts, and review transactions for conformity with applicable laws, rules, and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and effectively.
- Proficiency in using Maine Pays, Advantage, and the DAFS Analytics database is preferred.

PayGrade
Pay Grade 20: $43,014.40 - $60,070.40.
