- Provide overall operational support to the Accounts Payable Team to ensure efficiency and a collaborative working environment.
- Enter payment requests into the system for processing.
- Review and approve payment requests for payment in the general ledger.
- Process travel‑related requests ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines.
- Prepare and process payments while ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable procedures, policies, federal requirements and state statutes.
- Utilize Excel and other software to review transactions, analyze financial data and determine proper payment processing.
- Contribute to the Department’s mission by processing payments timely and accurately while providing superior customer service to internal and external customers.
- Possess good critical thinking skills, be flexible and adaptable to a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic understanding of accounting practices and controls and excellent attention to detail.
- Prior experience and/or education that demonstrates knowledge of intermediate Excel functions and formulas to analyze data.
- Prior experience and/or education that demonstrates knowledge of GAAP/GASB, analyzing accounting data and accounting reconciliations.
The DHHS Financial Service Center is responsible for program accounting, cash management and revenue/expenditure control for the entire Department of Health and Human Services, including TANF and Maine Care. It provides budget and fiscal analysis, grant management, and legislative support in compliance with state and federal laws.
