Maine State Credit Union is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated
** Accounting Specialist I
** to join our Accounting team. If you enjoy working with numbers, solving discrepancies, and ensuring financial accuracy, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while expanding your knowledge across a variety of accounting  this role, you'll be a key player in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Your work will have a direct impact on our daily operations and financial success.

Responsibilities include:

* Reconciling daily and monthly general ledger accounts
* Researching and resolving outstanding accounting items
* Preparing and maintaining supporting documentation
* Assisting with accounts payable processes and employee expense reporting
* Supporting month-end activities and financial reporting
* Collaborating with departments across the organization to resolve transaction issues
* Cross-training in other accounting functions and providing backup support as needed## Qualifications We're seeking candidates who have both a passion for accounting and a strong foundation in accounting principles.
** Required Qualifications
*** Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
* Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong organizational and time-management abilities
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
** Preferred Qualifications
*** 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related experience
* Experience reconciling accounts and researching discrepancies
* Familiarity with general ledger activity and financial reporting processes

The pay range for this position is $20/hr-24/hr based on experience.
