Core ResponsibilitiesYou will serve as a Licensing Clerk providing licensing services for a variety of businesses to protect public health. This includes restaurants, school kitchens, catering, senior citizen meals, mobile food vendors, hotels, B&Bs, public pools, spas, camps, mass gatherings, and specialty services such as tattoo and body piercing artists. The role processes licensing applications, renewals, payments, performs financial reconciliations, and issues licenses.
It also handles verbal and written communication with constituents and staff.
- Maintain status of all applications through the licensing process.
- Prepare and maintain financial records including daily deposits.
- Refer license applications to the Drinking Water Program for water approval as needed.
- Review completeness of municipality septic approvals.
- Generate renewals weekly and send to Central Services for printing and mailing.
- Print licenses and deliver to Central Services weekly.
- Provide telephone and walk‑in coverage.
- Handle main reception duties.
- Issue refunds as needed, follow up with bounced checks.
- Order supplies, equipment, forms and rule books.
- Conduct online/database research for special projects.
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates competence in modern office practices, independent decision‑making, and application of standard procedures.
All positions assume the qualifications of Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I.
Preferred Candidates- Prior licensing experience in a busy office environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
- Ability to collect, count, reconcile and deposit fees in accordance with set standards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Computer skills, including basic graphics and spreadsheets.
