The Office of Employee Health & Wellness, Workers’ Compensation manages the State’s self‑insured workers’ compensation program, focusing on preventing workplace injuries and ensuring injured State of Maine employees receive necessary medical care and compensation. This role manages a small caseload of workers’ compensation claims for State of Maine employees and supports daily claim management by collecting information from internal and external sources.
Responsibilities- Conduct supervisory workers’ compensation training for new supervisors.
- Prepare files for mediations and hearings.
- Perform provider bill and claim audits.
- Respond to requests from the State of Maine’s legal teams and other partners.
- Prepare bills for potential agreements or decrees.
- Update, track and maintain the subrogation spreadsheet.
- Track and maintain a legal spreadsheet for claims.
- Schedule and prepare medical packages for evaluations.
- Send files to attorneys/advocates.
- Prepare medical/bill indices.
- Compile quarterly, monthly and yearly departmental reports.
A combination of related post‑secondary education, training, or experience demonstrating knowledge and understanding of workers’ compensation claims management functions and processes. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in workers’ compensation claims management and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
