Unclaimed Property Associate – Office Associate II

Grade: 13 | Job Class Code: 6542 | Salary: $17.69 – $25.47 per hour (includes 2.25% recruitment and retention stipend) |

Responsibilities
  • Decide at least 30 unclaimed property claims daily when backlog exists.
  • Answer phone calls from claimants, provide assistance and respond to inquiries per established procedures.
  • Manage document scanning and maintain high quality standards.
  • Retrieve, sort, open, and process unclaimed property mail.
  • Perform routine and occasional secretarial duties including scheduling appointments and arranging travel/lodging.
  • Coordinate and present workshops, trainings, and orientation sessions.
  • Write regular and periodic reports.
  • Administer and score applicable examinations in accordance with set procedures.
  • Track and monitor contracts and licenses.
  • Collect, count, reconcile, and deposit fees per established procedures.
  • Reconcile funds and perform related calculations for reports.
  • Receive and greet visitors, assess customer needs, and advise on technical matters.
  • Apply to routine individual cases an explanation and interpretation of applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures, codes, and documentation requirements.
  • Develop standard work procedures and, if applicable, provide leadership for a work team.
Qualifications / Key Skills
  • Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work demonstrating competency in modern office practices and independent decision‑making.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and equipment used in graphics, illustration, and publication work; ability to create and use varied correspondence formats and standard business correspondence.
  • Knowledge of internet information distribution and ability to make standard changes to web page content.
  • Ability to prepare standard reports, develop and use computerized formats and/or graphics, and perform basic secretarial duties.
  • Ability to administer, score, and correct standard examinations.
  • Ability to collect, count, reconcile, and deposit fees; reconcile funds.
  • Ability to stay current with laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, paperwork, and terminology; ability to explain and interpret applicable requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate and present workshops, trainings, and orientation sessions; present information to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to detect errors and irregularities, take appropriate action, resolve problems, and exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making recommendations.
  • Ability to provide ongoing leadership for a work team and confer with supervisors on performance appraisals.
