This is a mission-driven, employee-owned business operating at the forefront of the specialty agricultural and horticultural sector, with a loyal customer base spanning small-scale, organic, and market growers across North America.
This is a senior, high-impact role at the heart of the business, owning a strategically important product category and shaping how growers access the tools they need to succeed.
The RoleThe Senior Product Manager for Tools & Supplies will own the full lifecycle of an established and growing portfolio of agricultural tools and supplies. From multi-year product strategy through to vendor development, prototyping, field testing, and catalogue launch, this person will be the internal and external spokesperson for the category.
The role is on-site in Albion, Maine, with the potential to transition to a hybrid model (3 days in office, 2 remote) once established.
Key Responsibilities Business Performance- Own financial performance of the tools and supplies category, including revenue, cost, pricing, and margin targets
- Deliver data-driven insights and prepare materials for business reviews and planning cycles
- Develop and maintain a multi-year product line strategy aligned with customer needs and growth objectives
- Conduct ongoing market trend assessments and engage directly with grower communities
- Represent the brand at industry trade events, grower conferences, and research institutions
- Set annual and multi-year sales and new product introduction goals
- Lead end-to-end development for new tools and supplies: concepting, prototyping, field testing, validation, and launch
- Establish and manage manufacturing relationships with fabrication partners
- Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and farm operations on quality and usability standards
- Manage technical specifications, testing protocols, and product documentation
- Oversee product lifecycle from introduction through discontinuation
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews, SKU rationalisation, and inventory optimisation in partnership with Purchasing and Planning
- Source and cultivate relationships with domestic and international suppliers, fabricators, and design partners
- Negotiate dealer agreements, exclusive product agreements, and cooperative production arrangements
- Evaluate inbound and outbound shipping methods for cost efficiency
- Lead and manage the Tools & Supplies product team
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Customer Care, Operations, and Quality & Regulatory Affairs on product launches and annual catalogue preparation
- Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture, Horticulture, Industrial Design, Business, or a related field
- 4-7 years of product management or product leadership experience
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into product solutions
- Passion for sustainable agriculture or small-scale farming
- Familiarity with tools used in greenhouse, field, and market farm environments
- Experience with prototyping, CAD, or field testing
- Experience with supplier negotiations or product agreements
- Background working on a farm or in field-trial environments
Physical:
Ability to test and evaluate tools and equipment in farm environments; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
