Job SummaryThis full‑time, nine‑month position requires a terminal degree and/or equivalent professional experience in costume design, make‑up design and costume technology. The Instructional Assistant Professor of Costume Design and Technology will supervise and execute costume and make‑up/hair designs in collaboration with faculty, costume shop staff, and student designers each semester at a Research I University. The successful candidate will also teach undergraduate costume design, make‑up design and costume technology courses at both lower and upper division levels, perform service consistent with the position including recruitment and participation in shared governance, and oversee makeup/hair designs for mainstage productions while mentoring students in academic and career preparation.
Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise and execute costume and make‑up/hair designs in collaboration with other faculty, costume shop staff, and student designers each semester.
Teach undergraduate costume design, make‑up design and costume technology courses at both lower and upper division levels.
Perform service as appropriate to the position, including recruitment and participation in shared governance.
Oversee makeup/hair designs for mainstage productions and costume design as needed.
Mentor students in both academics and career preparation.
Education & ExperienceBachelor’s (Required)
Relevant professional experience in costume design, make‑up design and costume technology is also required.
