Nursing Mental Health Clinical Instructor - Fall 2026

Statement:
UMA's Nursing Program invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach clinical in our program. UMA has a holistic RN-BSN program which has AHNCC endorsement and started admitting students to the pre-licensure option concept-based curriculum which emphasizes caring science in fall 2019. We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to supporting diversity and student success, and a desire to join and collaborate with program faculty to implement these practices.
Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center on the Augusta campus and smart classrooms. Responsibilities include:
Teaching mental health theory, lab, simulation and/or clinical courses in the BSN pre-licensure program in both traditional and non-traditional clinical formats. Review of applications is ongoing. Additional courses may be taught depending on applicant experience and education.
Required Qualifications:
- Current unencumbered licensure as a RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing/Master's or higher to teach the theory portion of any course.
- Clinical practice within the past five years in mental health.
- Strong desire to support student learning in mental health environments and experiences.
- Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance.
- Three or more years of teaching at the college level.
- MSN or higher degree in nursing
- National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC)
- Teaching experience within a concept based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science.
- Experience in teaching in simulation
