Seeking a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide specialized educational services in a school setting in Augusta, ME. This contract position offers an opportunity to work closely with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping to develop their communication skills and academic progress in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to students' hearing and communication needs
  • Utilize specialized teaching methods and assistive technologies to support student learning
  • Collaborate with families, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other educators to ensure holistic student development
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and modify instruction accordingly
  • Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in deaf education
Qualifications and

Experience:
  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a K-12 school setting
  • Strong knowledge of deaf education methodologies, sign language, and assistive hearing technologies
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
