Responsibilities vary by placement but may include:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students receiving special education services
- Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with families, teachers, administrators, and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Utilize evidence‑based instructional strategies and interventions
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, social, and functional growth
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations
- Foster inclusive and supportive learning environments
Qualifications are required and preferred as follows:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field (required)
- Valid Maine Special Education certification or eligibility for certification
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Experience in school-based special education settings preferred
- New graduates and experienced educators are encouraged to apply
