Administrative Assistant To The Superintendent, Director Of Curriculum & Board Of Directors

RSU 24 is seeking a highly organized, professional, and detail-oriented administrative assistant to the superintendent, director of curriculum & board of directors to join our central office team. This full-time, year-round position provides essential confidential administrative support to the superintendent, director of curriculum, board of directors, and central office leadership. The successful candidate will be an experienced administrative professional who demonstrates excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

    Full-time, year-round
  • Schedule:

    Monday-friday, 8 hours per day (260 paid days per year)
  • Reports to:

    Superintendent of schools
  • Additional requirements:

    Occasional evening attendance at board and committee meetings

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide confidential administrative support to the superintendent, director of curriculum, and central office leadership.
  • Manage the superintendent's calendar, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings.
  • Provide administrative support to the director of curriculum, including scheduling meetings, maintaining records, coordinating curriculum-related communications, and assisting with professional development and state reporting as needed.
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute board of directors agendas, meeting materials, minutes, and correspondence.
  • Attend board and committee meetings and accurately record meeting minutes.
  • Maintain confidential files and records related to personnel, legal matters, collective bargaining, curriculum initiatives, and district operations.
  • Draft correspondence, reports, meeting notes, and other district communications.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for staff, families, community members, public agencies, and other organizations.
  • Coordinate communications related to school closures and emergency notifications.
  • Support purchasing, budgeting, recordkeeping, and administrative procedures within the superintendent's office and curriculum department.
  • Maintain records related to school choice, superintendent waivers, home schooling, teacher evaluations, and curriculum initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the director of curriculum to support district curriculum implementation, assessment, instructional programs, grants, and compliance activities.
  • Provide administrative support to other central office staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet-based applications.
  • Education & experience associate's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) preferred.
  • Four to ten years of related administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership, school administration, a curriculum office, or a governing board is highly desirable.
  • Required certification maine department of education criminal history records check certification.
