Engineering Aide positions are seasonal positions where candidates explore career paths based on their interests in the world of transportation while helping the Department to meet our objectives throughout the construction season that keeps Maine moving!
Potential assignments may include construction inspection, materials testing, engineering analysis, cost estimating, or other engineering tasks on Highway and Bridge design, Highway and Bridge projects under development and in our Environmental Office.
With statewide positions available, selected candidates are placed on projects as close to their residence as possible or assigned to one of our two fully accredited materials laboratories in Freeport or Bangor. These positions typically run from mid-May to the end of the construction season. Students pursuing an Engineering or Engineering Technology degree are encouraged to apply!
QualificationsTo be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, and training or work experience which would demonstrate a knowledge of basic mathematics and an ability to read and comprehend manuals, maps, charts, and graphs.
