Job Description
As an Assistant Transportation Engineer in the field, you will be performing a variety of moderately complex engineering functions in support of construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, systems, facilities, and other aspects of transportation engineering.
Responsibilities- Act as an inspector by inspecting, verifying, measuring, and documenting the work performed by private contractors.
- Interpret plans and specifications that relate to the project.
- Sample and test construction materials.
- Act as a Resident Inspector on selected projects and be introduced to project management principles and advanced technical engineering duties.
- Detail, design, and estimate quantities for regional pavement preservation or rehabilitation design projects.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field, or
- Non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
