Salary: $60,819.20 - $85,259.20 Per Year

(This includes a 17.66% Salary Adjustment). This is earning potential over the course of nine steps; new hires generally start at step one. Annual step increases are based on performance reviews and authorization of such increases.

BRIEF

JOB DESCRIPTION:

These positions are in the Stormwater Engineering Team (SET) of the Bureau of Land Resources (BLR). SET is primarily responsible for the implementation of the DEP's "Stormwater Management Rules (Chapter 500)" and reviews land development projects requiring DEP permits. These positions will review the stormwater management plans proposed for the construction and post-construction phases of the projects. One of the positions will specialize in construction stormwater management and the other one will specialize in post-construction stormwater management.

Both positions will be involved in stormwater compliance activities in addition to licensing and interact with internal (e.g., BLR licensers and field services staff) and external (e.g., consultants, contractors, inspectors) customers of SET.

Other job duties include:

* Performing tasks to ensure compliance with Maine Construction General Permit (MCGP).

* Assisting with activities to improve SET related workflows and procedures.

Preference will be given to candidates with educational background, skills, and/or experience in:

* Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices pertaining to the management of stormwater (e.g., stormwater modeling, computer aided design and drafting).

* Knowledge of Chapter 500 and applicable State environmental laws and rules.

* Experience in creating or reviewing stormwater management plans, including low impact development or green infrastructure techniques.

* Experience in stormwater inspection (e.g., construction oversight, third-party inspection, post-construction inspection).

* Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Civil, Sanitary, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering and four (4) years of engineering experience. Related experience may be substituted for education on a year or year basis.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Licensure as a Professional Engineer by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
