Salary: $51,688.00 – $72,467.20 per year
This position provides project management and field services for petroleum contaminated site cleanup. The role serves as a field team leader during follow‑up cleanup and extended remediation activities after initial spill response, providing technical expertise and oversight for field investigations and remedial actions. Work includes statewide administration of contracts, reviewing technical reports, preparing and approving work plans, completing site closure documentation, supervising contractors during field operations, monitoring current and past cases, developing site safety and implementation plans, collecting environmental samples, evaluating treatment systems, and coordinating drilling and remediation service contracts.
Responsibilities- Lead field teams during follow‑up cleanup and extended remediation activities.
- Administer statewide contracts, review technical reports, prepare and approve work plans.
- Complete site closure documentation and supervise contractors during field operations.
- Monitor current and past cases, develop site safety and implementation plans.
- Collect environmental samples to support remedial decisions and evaluate treatment systems.
- Coordinate drilling and remediation service contracts, manage procurement and funding activities, approve invoices, and oversee contract renewals.
- Collaborate with department staff and the Underground Storage Tank Unit to support statewide environmental response and remediation objectives.
- Maintain safe working conditions using personal protective equipment, including respirators during inspection and sampling activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geology, or other physical science.
- Three (3) years of experience in investigation, monitoring, or inspection work in the environmental science field, including at least one (1) year dealing with oil and hazardous materials technologies.
- Equivalent work experience may be substituted for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Project management experience coordinating cleanup activities and contractor work.
- Knowledge of petroleum technologies, treatment systems, and regulations.
- Technical report review skills: evaluating consultant reports and preparing work plans.
- Effective communication skills in both field and administrative settings.
