- Analyze Maine Care financial data to forecast expenditures, revenue collections, and emerging fiscal trends.
- Propose and draft necessary budget initiatives to ensure adequate funding for the Maine Care program in response to federal and state policy changes, such as adjustments to the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) rate.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support budget development, financial planning, and policy decisions.
- Assist in developing legislative initiatives and drafting statutory changes related to financial and budgetary policy.
- Collaborate with teams from across state government to improve financial outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Communicate complex financial information and analyses to technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership, through written reports and presentations.
- Validate, reconcile, and maintain the integrity of financial data within and extracted from departmental data systems to support accurate reporting and decision-making.
- Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, establish priorities, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Eight (8) years of combined education and/or experience, including a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics or a closely related field, and four (4) years of responsible experience in accounting, cost, budget and/or financial analysis. Directly related professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Prior experience in analyzing Medicaid financial or program data is preferred.
