Position Summary:
The Teller is a customer-focused banking professional responsible for accurately and courteously processing a wide range of financial transactions. This role maintains precise cash and transaction records, supports operational efficiency, and may assist with training new team members. As a key point of customer interaction, the Teller contributes to a positive banking experience, promotes Bank products and services, and ensures adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Customer Transactions:
- Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to branch customers at the teller line or drive-up windows.
- Process customer deposits and withdrawals (including night bags) in accordance with established procedures.
- Receive loan, mortgage, and club payments.
- Cash checks and sell money orders and Treasurer’s checks.
- Assist customers with safe deposit box access.
- Comply with all Bank and branch policies and procedures related to customer transactions.
- Refer complex questions or problems to the Front Line Manager or Supervisor.
- Accurately settle own cash drawer and processed work in adherence to Bank performance standards and established procedures.
- Maintain daily work in good order and ensure proper documentation.
- Comply with all Federal and State banking regulations.
- Adhere to all Bank and branch operating and security policies and procedures.
- Meet or exceed established objectives and performance standards for teller functions
- Maintain knowledge of current Kennebec Savings Bank (KSB) products and services.
- Actively utilize Bank products and services to better understand features and benefits.
- Communicate product knowledge effectively to customers and prospective customers.
- Engage customers in conversation to identify “cues and clues” to determine needs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and evaluate their financial needs.
- Recommend appropriate Bank products and services and refer customers to other Bank personnel when appropriate.
- Perform additional branch functions as assigned to meet customer service or operational needs.
- Provide support at other branch locations as required.
- Actively participate in community organizations and events.
- Represent the Bank professionally within the community.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Work at other Bank branches as needed for customer service, operational, or training purposes.
- Attend and participate in Bank meetings.
- Attend internal and external training to improve job-related skills and knowledge.
- Understand and fully comply with Kennebec Savings Bank’s Core Values.
- Perform other duties as required.

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Cash handling and customer service experience preferred
- Familiarity with banking products and systems a plus
- Basic computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, banking systems)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to attend meetings, training, and daily work schedules
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds (cash boxes/bags)
- Ability to distinguish between various denominations of coin and currency
- Ability to handle currency and operate vault systems
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
- Comfort using computers and reading reports
- Strong verbal communication skills, including phone interactions
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
- Ability to think through a problem, following proper steps in finding resolution.
- Must have a high degree of ethics and maintain confidentiality of customers and accounts
- Must be friendly, courteous and sensitive to the needs of customers and coworkers
Compensation for this position is based on knowledge, skills, experience, and demonstrated competency within the role.
Developing- Minimum:
$20.19 hourly
Proficient- Midpoint:
$22.72 hourly
Exceptional- Maximum:
$25.24 hourly
