Position Overview

We are seeking a per diem/as‑needed substance use disorder counselor for individual and group counseling, including IOP facilitation and DEEP evaluations and counseling (training provided). This is an in‑person position located in Augusta, Maine. The role may expand to full‑time by building a caseload and offers flexibility for school, parenting, and other employment commitments.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling, facilitate IOP sessions, and conduct DEEP evaluations and counseling.
  • Conduct assessments as needed and maintain a small caseload or serve as a substitute group facilitator.
  • Meet weekly with clients to establish goals and treatment plans, update plans, write progress notes, and monitor progress.
  • Build relationships with community resources, make referrals, and collaborate as part of a therapeutic team.
  • Complete documentation on time and as required by Maine Care, utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a CADC license; other credentials are desirable.
  • Professional and/or lived experience with behavioral health conditions and services.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, able to work independently, and able to consistently complete documentation.
  • Ability to pass mandated background checks; criminal history does not automatically disqualify candidates in a recovery‑friendly workplace.
  • Strong attention to detail, compassion, teamwork, communication, collaboration, community reputation, and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
