Position Overview
Support workers will work with young people with learning disabilities, autism, Asperger's or related conditions to access community services and social activities such as shopping, library visits, cinema, doctor appointments, trips and classroom support.
The role offers flexible hours (3‑40+ per week) and may include weekdays, weekends and evenings. You may be required to drive (licence required) and use your own vehicle with business insurance.
Key Responsibilities- Assist service users with community activities and transport.
- Support budgeting and planning of activities.
- Keep accurate daily records, activity diaries and other required documentation.
- Ensure personal development, attend supervision and annual appraisals.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of service users.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
- Participate in health and safety duties.
- Set up and tidy up activities and secure premises.
- Communicate with families and outside agencies in a professional manner.
- Deliver any specialist interventions as agreed with professionals.
- Attend yearly learner reviews and meetings when required.
- Respecting others and good interpersonal skills.
- Basic IT skills.
- Caring and flexible to adjust approach.
- A commitment to a person‑centred approach.
- Humour and a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Professional boundaries at all times.
- Experience working with people with learning disabilities and autism (desired but not essential).
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Own reliable transport with business insurance if driving.
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred).
Full‑time, part‑time, bank or flexible (including 10‑hour, 12‑hour, 8‑hour shifts, day or night). Monday‑Friday, weekends and bank holidays may be required.
