Phlebotomist

A reputable healthcare organization is seeking experienced Phlebotomists to support a long-term federal healthcare contract in Augusta, Maine. This position offers a 1-year base contract with the potential for four additional option years, providing excellent long-term stability and career growth.

Schedule:

  • 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Rotating weekends (approximately 1–2 per month)
  • Weekend, evening, holiday, and occasional overtime coverage may be required

Position Summary:

The Phlebotomist will perform blood specimen collection for inpatient and outpatient populations while ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen processing, quality control, and compliance with laboratory policies and federal healthcare standards.

  • Perform phlebotomy procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients.
  • Collect, process, label, and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Ensure accurate patient and specimen identification.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation and quality control records.
  • Identify and resolve collection or processing issues.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards.
  • Deliver professional, patient-centered care while supporting laboratory quality initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Phlebotomy Certification
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Active healthcare license (any U.S. state accepted, if applicable)
  • Minimum 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding)
