The Department of Secretary of State is modernizing how we onboard, train, and support employees across the Department. We are implementing a new Learning Management System (LMS) and building clear, consistent learning pathways that support recruitment, retention, and high-quality service to the people of Maine.
We are seeking a Project Manager – HR Modernization & Learning Systems to help guide this work. This role will work closely with the Director of Organizational Development and collaborate with HR, leaders, subject matter experts, and business partners across the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Corporations, Elections & Commissions, and the Maine State Archives.
This is a full-time, two-year contract position.
What You’ll DoYou will help lead and coordinate the implementation of the LMS and related HR modernization efforts by:
- Managing project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
- Coordinating work across HR, leadership, and subject matter experts
- Supporting the design and rollout of role-based onboarding and training pathways
- Conducting training and onboarding gap analyses
- Identifying where training should be developed, revised, or improved
- Helping develop tools to track training updates and ensure content stays current
- Supporting presentations, training sessions, and facilitated discussions
We’re looking for someone who is collaborative and comfortable working independently — someone who is organized, dependable, and able to manage their work and meet deadlines.
Ideal candidates bring experience in:- Training, learning and development, or adult education in a professional setting
- Learning Management Systems (LMS) or training implementations
- Project or program coordination
- Facilitating training, presentations, or onboarding sessions
- Translating complex information into clear, usable learning resources
This position is hybrid eligible, with regular onsite work required in Augusta to support collaboration, job shadowing, and key implementation phases.
- Two-year, full-time contract position
- Not a permanent State of Maine civil service role
- Contract positions do not include State of Maine employee benefits
