Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Our client, Oceanside Builders, a builder of high‑end custom homes in mid‑Coast Maine, is seeking a hands‑on Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and execute day‑to‑day operations across their growing construction business. This role requires someone who can both run the business and lead in the field – taking full ownership of daily execution so the owner can step out of operations and focus on scaling the company.

This is not a sit‑back‑and‑strategize role. You will be in the field, solving problems, driving performance, and ensuring projects get delivered on time, on budget, and at a high standard.

The COO owns operational execution across all projects – connecting strategy to reality. You will work directly with project managers and field teams to keep work moving, remove obstacles, and drive accountability. If you’re the kind of leader who doesn’t just oversee operations, but drives them, this is your role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily operations across multiple active construction projects
  • Stay close to the field supporting planning, execution, and problem‑solving
  • Drive project performance across schedule, budget, quality, and safety
  • Build and lead high‑performing, accountable teams
  • Improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency
  • Partner with leadership on financial performance and forecasting
  • Strengthen relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in construction operations, project management, or field leadership
  • Proven ability to run multiple projects and teams simultaneously
  • Strong financial acumen (job costing, margins, budgets)
  • Experience as a builder of teams, not just a manager of them
  • Decisive, solutions‑oriented leadership under pressure
  • Willingness to be both in the field and in the leadership seat
What Success Looks Like
  • Day‑to‑day operations run smoothly without reliance on ownership
  • Projects stay on track with minimal escalation
  • Teams are accountable, capable, and proactive
  • Margins improve through disciplined execution
  • The owner is freed up to focus on growth, strategy, and business development

Oceanside Builders is a residential construction, remodeling, and property management firm focused on delivering high‑quality custom homes in demanding coastal environments. They combine craftsmanship with disciplined execution to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Their work is built on strong field leadership, clear communication, and accountability across every phase of a project. As they continue to grow, they are focused on strengthening operations, building high‑performing teams, and creating the systems needed to scale without compromising quality.

This is an onsite position in Bailey Island, Maine. Relocation assistance is available.#J-18808-Ljbffr
