Director Of Counseling And Wellness - Fall 2026
The Division of Counselor and Wellness is seeking a Director of Counseling and Wellness to join our Augusta Campus. The primary purpose of the position is to guide the program in the design, assessment, and marketing of division services, and assure compliance with relevant laws and standards governing such programs. The position serves as a consultant to University and community mental health resources, and overall holistic student wellbeing.
In addition to supervision of the staff team, the Director delivers limited direct in-person and remote services to students and provides management and supervision for the master's-level internship program. The Director also provides input, guidance, and support to the University's student persistence efforts, and participates in inter-divisional student success programs.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master's degree in an appropriate discipline
At least three years of experience in clinical counseling
Demonstrated crisis management skills
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
Demonstrated leadership and supervision capacity
Licenses/certifications:
Full clinical counseling license or eligibility for licensure in Maine
Preferred:
Experience with adult learners
Experience working in a higher education setting
Experience with distance counseling modalities
Experience and training in clinical supervision
Experience in teaching and/or providing workshops/training
Prior budget management experience
Salary:
The hiring salary is in the mid 70s to low 80s range, is commensurate with education and experience, and will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees for transfer/promotion.
