Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position is accountable for the training of the production employees for the facility in autonomous maintenance operations. The Autonomous Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing an effective autonomous work environment and monitoring the development of production, autonomous and production maintenance team members by teaching, coaching and counseling to improve their performance. This position has the responsibility to always comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Production Efficiency: Achieve daily/weekly production goals and objectives. Directs on the job trainers to ensure all employee training is completed and that employees are ready on time. Leads autonomous programs to teach operators and production maintenance the fundamentals of autonomous maintenance.
  • Employee Safety: Supports all plant safety programs. Ensures a safe working environment for all employees. Monitoring safety performance and assures compliance with established policies, procedures and goals. Trains all employees on all safety measures to include but not limited to: LOTO, Bradford graphics, two points of control and machine guarding.
  • Food Safety: Ensure food safety and food security through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, Sanitation Guidelines and understanding of all Hazard Analysis Critical Controls and meet required SQF Code.
  • Continuous Improvement: Works with process team leaders with implementation of process improvements and enhancements as well as plans to reduce costs. Oversees implementation of corrective actions to fix deficiencies in production.
  • Employee Development: Establishes a working environment that allows autonomous and production maintenance employees every opportunity to reach their potential. Develop them in the 7 steps of autonomous maintenance.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Monitor’s manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with good manufacturing processes while delivering products on time at the lowest total cost by conforming exactly to the customer’s requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Stewardship: Oversees the development, operation and enhancement of processes within the manufacturing plant that protect the land, environment, and natural resources.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner. Focused on training.
  • All food safety and human safety concerns need to be reported to appropriate personnel such as QA staff, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior-based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise the job trainers, autonomous and production maintenance staff members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

In the absence of the Autonomous Maintenance Manager (Day Shift) the Reliability Supervisor has been identified as the designated back-up.
