Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the set‑up, operation, and disassembly of equipment used for production by mechanical means to produce both work in process and finished goods products. This job may include the loading, unloading of materials, packaging and finished goods products from racks or pallets. The position has dual responsibilities working production needs then transferring into sanitation as directed by the plant production supervisor.

It also requires compliance with Safety work rules at all times as well as reinforcing Safety as a Core Value.

  • Adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) during production, sanitation, and handling materials and ingredients.
  • Maintain and make adjustments to equipment to control designated weights on an individual package or case weight basis.
  • Meet production performance requirements in a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Transfer finished products and raw materials to identified locations in the plant/warehouse or on the production line.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including the wearing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as prescribed for each work activity or job.
  • Perform CCP checks as needed depending on location in the plant and during manufacturing.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • All food safety and human safety concerns need to be reported to appropriate personnel such as shift lead, shift supervisor, QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two or more years industrial equipment or food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to apply good judgement and understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to communicate production issues, counts and weights to supervision or lead personnel.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Forklift/Pallet Jack Certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of GMP and safe food manufacturing practices a plus.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear, frequently required to reach with hands and arms, occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described include wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to high or precarious places, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and a usually loud noise level.
