Relational Organizer
Community Organizing Alliance (COA) and Community Action Alliance (CAA) seek a Relational Organizer who is deeply committed to racial and social justice and passionate about building long-term community power through intentional grassroots organizing. This role focuses on sustained base-building and leadership development rather than short-term mobilization. The Relational Organizer will build and strengthen relationships through one-on-one engagement, develop volunteer leaders and support grassroots civic engagement and electoral organizing efforts.
The ideal candidate is relational, strategic, and highly organized with the ability to engage community members, coordinate volunteers, and support organizing goals through strong follow-up, data tracking, and teamwork. This role will work closely with staff, coalition partners, and community stakeholders to expand participation and strengthen long-term community power.
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one relational meetings to build long-term community relationships
- Recruit, engage, and develop members and volunteers into sustained involvement
- Build volunteer leadership pipelines, including volunteer leads and neighborhood teams
- Support leadership development and deepen stakeholder engagement through intentional organizing
Organizing Systems, Volunteer Coordination & Metrics
- Utilize organizing tools such as V AN and volunteer management systems
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing engagement
- Track outreach, participation, and organizing outcomes
- Support team accountability through clear metrics, goals, and follow-up systems
Civic Engagement, Electoral Organizing & Coalition Coordination
- Support grassroots electoral organizing efforts including canvassing, phone banking, and voter outreach
- Coordinate with coalition partners and community stakeholders
- Assist with organizing events, actions, and civic engagement campaigns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Strong commitment to racial equity, immigrant justice, and community-led change
- Prior experience with community organizing, outreach, advocacy, or grassroots engagement
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
- Comfortable engaging diverse communities and building trust
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed
This is a hybrid position in Maine.

This is a full-time, hybrid position working approximately 35–40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule based on organizational and community needs. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience, with anticipated compensation of approximately $24 per hour. COA and CAA provide health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
