Volunteer Maine, in partnership with the Office for Family Independence (OFI), is developing new pathways that connect Mainers with volunteer opportunities that support compliance with public benefit program requirements, including SNAP and emerging Maine Care community engagement requirements.
A central component of this work is the development of an Eligibility Pathways Hub that will serve as a coordination point for information sharing, partnership development, and volunteer pathway alignment across Maine. The initiative also includes improvements to Serve Maine.org to better support individuals seeking volunteer opportunities connected to eligibility requirements. Efforts will focus on improving usability, organizing opportunities in clear and accessible ways, and exploring methods for participation tracking and verification.
ResponsibilitiesThe Ending Hunger Corps Volunteer Pathways VISTA will support Volunteer Maine staff to develop systems, tools, and partnerships that connect individuals to appropriate opportunities while strengthening coordination between state agencies and nonprofit partners. A central component of this work is supporting the launch of an “Eligibility Pathways Hub” (name TBD) to align information, partners, and pathways at scale.
