Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Family Medicine Institute, 40 hours

Job Summary

Maine General Health is hiring a Triage Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Family Medicine Institute Practice in Augusta. In this role you will support patient access, safety and continuity of care. You will help manage chronic conditions, coordinate health screenings, support providers with medical procedures and deliver timely telephone triage to guide patients to the right level of care. You will also assist with appointment coordination and respond to urgent patient needs, contributing to a positive and comprehensive care experience for our community.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Take calls from patients/caregivers requesting assistance, provide advice, referrals and patient education.
  • Determine necessity and type of care for symptomatic patients and advise caller regarding appropriate care.
  • Perform administrative duties to coordinate patient care, including data collection, answering phones, scheduling tests/procedures and appointments, calling in prescriptions, determining insurance coverage, billing and receiving payments.
Qualifications
  • Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain within a timely fashion.
  • 1 year of RN experience preferred.
  • Previous practice experience helpful.
  • Strong assessment skills, especially over the phone.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to react calmly, objectively and effectively in emergencies.
