Primary Care Registered Nurse; RN - Family Medicine Institute, per diem

Job Description Summary

Maine General Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Family Medicine Institute Practice in Augusta, ME. This role focuses on comprehensive patient care, chronic disease management, and clinical support in a fast‑paced outpatient setting.

• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on assessment to optimize outcomes.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
• Evaluate learning needs and provide patient/family education tailored to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Takes calls from patients/caregivers requesting assistance; provides advice, referrals, and education.
• Assess symptomatic callers to determine necessity and type of care; advise on appropriate next steps.
• Perform administrative duties to coordinate care, including data collection, answering phones, scheduling tests/procedures, calling in prescriptions, determining insurance coverage, and billing/receiving payments.

• Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain within a timely period.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience (preferred). Prior practice experience helpful.
• Strong assessment skills, especially over the phone.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proven critical‑thinking skills.
• Ability to react calmly, objectively, and effectively in emergencies.
