Registered Nurse RN - Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME

Full-time Nights 7p-7a 12-Hour Shifts

The CCU Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct, high-quality patient care to adults with cardiac conditions in the Coronary Care Unit. Utilizes the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation—to monitor cardiac status, respond to changes in patient condition, and implement evidence-based interventions. Collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team, directs patient and family education, supervises other nursing personnel, and ensures CCU standards of care, patient safety, and confidentiality are consistently maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care to adults in the CCU, including monitoring cardiac status and implementing interventions.
  • Apply the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Monitor and respond to cardiac monitoring, vital signs, and changes in patient condition.
  • Communicate promptly with physicians and healthcare teams regarding clinical changes, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
  • Educate patients and families on cardiac disease processes, treatments, and care plans.
  • Supervise and collaborate with other nursing personnel, maintaining CCU standards of care.
  • Document all care, interventions, and patient observations accurately while maintaining patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and rapid changes in patient condition.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
  • Ventilator Management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Employment Status:
