Position: Registered Nurse, Free-standing ER/ED @ Martintown, PRN Days

Job Overview

Aiken Regional Medical Centers is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Free‑standing ER/ED at Martintown for PRN Day shifts. In this role, the RN will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population presenting with a wide range of acute and urgent conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform rapid and thorough assessments, triage patients according to acuity, initiate appropriate interventions, administer medications, start and manage IV lines, and assist with diagnostic procedures and treatments in collaboration with the emergency department physician and multidisciplinary team.
  • Continuously monitor patient status, recognize and respond promptly to changes in condition, and elevate care when necessary while maintaining accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.
  • Prioritize patient safety, maintain infection control standards, and follow all hospital and departmental protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate care, communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, physicians, and other team members, and provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Participate in patient flow management to support efficient throughput, including collaboration with ambulance services, admitting facilities, and other care settings to ensure appropriate transfers and continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking, decision‑making, and time‑management skills while managing multiple patients and competing priorities.
  • Participate in emergency response situations such as codes, trauma activations, and rapid responses, and assist with stabilization and preparation of patients for transfer when needed.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, adhere to best practices and clinical pathways, and contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and well‑stocked emergency care environment.
