Position: Registered Nurse, Free-Standing ER/ED @ Martintown, Full-time Nights

Position Overview

Aiken Regional Medical Centers is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Free-Standing ER/ED in Martintown as a full-time night shift team member. In this role, you will provide high-quality, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients of all ages presenting with a wide range of acute and urgent conditions. Working within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will perform comprehensive assessments, rapidly identify and prioritize patient needs, implement evidence-based interventions, and continually evaluate patient responses in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in our Martintown free-standing emergency department, you will triage incoming patients using established emergency triage protocols, obtain and interpret vital signs, and collaborate with emergency physicians and advanced practice providers to develop and carry out individualized plans of care. You will administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments according to provider orders and hospital policies, while carefully monitoring for therapeutic and adverse effects.

You will assist with and, when appropriate, independently perform a variety of emergency nursing procedures such as wound care, splinting, cardiac monitoring, EKG acquisition, urinary catheterization, and specimen collection.

You will play a key role in recognizing and responding to life‑threatening situations, including cardiac events, respiratory distress, sepsis, trauma, and stroke, following Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) guidelines and applicable emergency department protocols. You will participate in rapid response and code situations, support airway management under provider direction, and ensure that emergency equipment and supplies are prepared, available, and functioning properly at all times.

In addition to direct patient care, you will be responsible for thorough and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, accurate medication administration records, and clear, professional communication during handoffs and interdisciplinary collaboration. You will provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow‑up care, while demonstrating empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect. You will advocate for patient safety, privacy, and dignity and actively participate in initiatives that improve quality of care, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.

Aiken Regional Medical Centers offers a supportive, compassionate culture that emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and professional growth. In this position, you will work closely with physicians, fellow nurses, technicians, and ancillary staff in a collaborative environment that values open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making. You will be encouraged to expand your clinical expertise in emergency nursing, participate in ongoing education and training, and contribute to performance improvement and evidence‑based practice projects.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with strong clinical judgment, excellent critical‑thinking skills, and the ability to remain calm and organized under pressure. You should be comfortable caring for multiple patients with varying acuity levels, adept at prioritizing rapidly changing situations, and committed to accurate, detail‑oriented work. Effective communication, both with the healthcare team and with patients and families, is essential.

A passion for emergency care, a commitment to community wellness, and a desire to make a meaningful impact on patients during some of their most vulnerable moments are key attributes for success in this role.

Professional Development

As part of Aiken Regional’s commitment to staff well‑being and development, you will have opportunities for continuing education in emergency and critical care topics, certification support, and participation in clinical committees or councils. Working nights in the Martintown free‑standing ER/ED, you will experience a dynamic and evolving practice setting where your skills are valued and your contributions directly support the health and safety of the community we serve.
