Aiken Regional Medical Centers, a leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services in Aiken, South Carolina, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our free‑standing Emergency Room/Emergency Department on Martintown Road for PRN night shifts. In this role, the RN will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based emergency nursing care to patients of all ages presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions.
Working within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, the nurse will perform focused and comprehensive assessments, rapidly recognize changes in patient status, and initiate appropriate interventions in collaboration with the emergency physician and interdisciplinary care team.
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for triaging patients according to established emergency acuity scales, administering medications and treatments as ordered, monitoring vital signs and cardiac rhythms, and operating specialized emergency equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, IV infusion pumps, and point‑of‑care testing devices. The nurse will maintain accurate, timely, and thorough electronic documentation, ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and EMTALA requirements, and participate in the safe handoff of care to inpatient units or other facilities as needed.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to remain calm and highly organized in a fast‑paced environment, and a commitment to patient and family education during stressful and often unpredictable situations.
As a PRN nights RN in the free‑standing ER/ED, the nurse will work variable night shifts based on department needs, providing coverage for peak volumes, staff vacations, and other staffing needs. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, radiology, laboratory, and registration staff to coordinate efficient, patient‑centered emergency care. The nurse will adhere to infection prevention practices, contribute to fall, pressure injury, and medication error reduction efforts, and support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives specific to emergency services.
Aiken Regional Medical Centers is committed to fostering a supportive and compassionate culture where innovation, collaboration, and professional growth are encouraged. The RN will be expected to participate in ongoing education, skills validation, and emergency‑specific competencies, such as advanced cardiac life support, pediatric emergency care, and trauma‑related protocols. The nurse will mentor and support new staff as appropriate, engage in effective communication with patients, families, and team members, and uphold the hospital’s values of respect, integrity, and excellence in every patient encounter.
This opportunity allows an experienced emergency nurse to make a meaningful impact on community wellness, expand clinical expertise in a modern free‑standing ER setting, and thrive within a dynamic healthcare environment dedicated to high‑quality patient care during the night shift.
