Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The RN utilizes the nursing process through technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence‑based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members.

Responsibilities
  • Perform assessment of physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate.
  • Seek and evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members: patient, family, physician, non‑nursing disciplines, support staff, and others.
  • Use assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plans of care, seeking patient, family, team, and physician involvement and including necessary education.
  • Plan and prepare patients for further support needs once current episode of care outcomes are met (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow‑up).
  • Direct the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration as appropriate.
  • Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan of care, care guidelines, and professional licensure provisions.
  • Set priorities and coordinate patient care delivery through effective time, supply, and resource management.
  • Evaluate patient response to interventions through review of goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and patient and family satisfaction, revising the plan of care as indicated and reassessing changes as appropriate.
  • Promote the nursing profession, participate in the development of others, and integrate legal and ethical standards into practice.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, practice within scope of licensure, provide accurate and timely documentation, and understand legal implications of care delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice.
  • Valid compact licenses transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment start date.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • BSN is required as of the job description’s last update on 4/27/2025; employees hired or promoted before that date will be held to the requirements in place at the time of hire or promotion.
Physical Requirements

Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs; operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Requires verbal communication and auditory comprehension, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision, frequent computer use and typing, and ability to lift and utilize full range of motion for patient transfers. May be required to lift, bend, carry supplies of varying weights, push or pull gurneys and portable equipment, and navigate busy rooms.

Standing in a stationary position for extended periods. Roles requiring driving must sit, see, and read signs and traffic signals.

Location

St. Marys Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Work Schedule and Compensation

Full‑time nights (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.). Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Hourly rate: $36.71 – $56.17, dependent on experience.
