The Express Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in an urgent care setting, utilizing the nursing process while adhering to the scope and standards of practice, organizational policies, and Maine General’s values and mission.
Responsibilities- Assess symptoms, determine acuity, identify appropriate algorithm/protocol, and develop a treatment plan.
- Provide professional advice, education, and options based on assessment, established algorithm/protocol, and clinical judgment.
- When appropriate, dispatch appropriate discipline personnel or the emergency response unit.
- Evaluate the learning needs of the patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Perform administrative duties to coordinate patient care, including data collection, answering phones, scheduling tests/procedures and appointments, calling in prescriptions, and determining insurance coverage.
- Document calls, responses, and referrals.
- Perform follow-up calls to evaluate the effectiveness of care and the need for additional care.
- Active State of Maine RN license (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience (Express Care experience preferred).
