Job Summary

Join us as a new graduate nurse (RN) as part of Maine General’s SHINE Residency in the Emergency Department track. The SHINE New Graduate Nurse (RN) Residency – Emergency Department is Maine General Health’s largest new graduate RN residency program. It is designed to expand your knowledge and skills through a year‑long, structured training program that culminates in independent practice in the Emergency Department.

• 12‑week comprehensive orientation across various med/surg units, guided by high‑performing preceptors.
• 6 weeks of independent med/surg practice to solidify newly developed skills.
• Specialized orientation in the ED, followed by ongoing clinical training, classroom sessions, and online learning.
• Monthly professional growth classes led by our professional development educators.

An early acceptance incentive of $4,000 awaits qualified SHINE candidates. Candidates must apply at least 6 weeks before their graduation date; offer letters should be signed within 1 week of receipt. The incentive is paid in full in your first paycheck as an RN.

• Expected graduation from an accredited nursing school in the Fall/Winter of 2026/2027 or less than 6 months of RN experience.
