Job Summary
Maine General is looking for a compassionate and motivated Behavioral Health Unit Assistant/CNA to join our dedicated Behavioral Health team at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. In this role, you will support individuals experiencing mental health challenges by providing patient-centered care under the supervision of an RN. Your work will help patients stabilize, develop coping skills, and improve their overall quality of life in alignment with our mission and values.

Alfond Center for Health, Augusta
Schedule:
36 hours/week
Shift: Nights (7p-7a)
- Assist in ensuring patient safety while helping to meet their emotional, physical, recreational, and mental health needs.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, orderly, and appropriately stocked therapeutic environment.
- Communicate therapeutically, use de-escalation techniques, and report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Perform basic patient care activities, as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course within one year of hire.
- Certification as a CNA required within 18 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certifications required within 6 months of hire.
- A minimum of one year of directly related work experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications is desired.
