• Salary: $35.35 - $44.32 per hour (inclusive of a $10.00 per hour salary adjustment stipend and a $0.60 per hour institutional stipend). Additional shift differentials: $3.00/hour for 2nd shift, $4.50/hour for 3rd shift, and $2.10/hour for weekend hours. Eligible candidates may also receive $200 per month as a nursing student loan reimbursement.
Riverview Psychiatric Center is a hospital facility dedicated to the care and treatment of patients who are mentally, emotionally, or physically ill. The position is the second level of professional nursing work involving oversight of medical and psychiatric nursing care, and may include supervision of paraprofessional personnel.
Job OverviewThis role involves overseeing and providing medical and/or psychiatric nursing care in a hospital facility, exercising supervision over paraprofessional staff or other personnel as a group leader, and performing work under limited supervision.
Responsibilities- Plans and oversees unit work, including general and psychiatric nursing care in accordance with nursing practices.
- Inventory supplies, equipment, and required medicines to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Administers medications and treatments to ensure patients receive proper medication and treatment in a timely manner.
- Orients and trains student nurses and paraprofessionals to nursing methods, practices, and techniques and monitors patient care activities to ensure consistent quality of care.
- Writes patient progress reports to maintain medical records and document unusual behavior.
- Assesses emergency situations and takes appropriate action to overcome and resolve patient problems.
- Assesses patient’s health status, plans care, or makes appropriate referrals to ensure patient needs are met.
- Performs audits relative to patient care to ensure patients receive proper and timely treatment.
- Conducts individual and group counseling therapy to provide patient treatment.
- Reports on patients' condition to appropriate professionals to provide information and recommend changes to treatment programs.
- Intervenes therapeutically when a patient exhibits signs of behavioral escalation to overcome situations.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field - OR - graduation from an accredited school of nursing plus one (1) year of professional nursing experience.
- A license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Maine State Board of Nursing.
