Position Overview
Store Manager for Kay Jewelers reports to the District Manager and oversees the Assistant Store Manager, Jewelry Consultant, Sales Support and Inventory Control teams.
Responsibilities- Communicate performance expectations and coach store staff on brand image, customer interactions, store visuals and marketing initiatives.
- Ensure an exceptional customer experience through training, outreach, clear expectations and empowerment to resolve customer issues.
- Achieve sales projections and quotas, develop strategies to maximize both personal and team sales potential.
- Observe operations to identify successes and improvement opportunities, analyze reports, recognize trends, and develop plans to address issues.
- Collaborate with neighboring Signet SMs to foster open communication, efficient resource use and shared objectives.
- Implement the People First vision: select, onboard and develop talent; provide ongoing coaching in operations, sales techniques, customer service, product knowledge, inventory control and visual merchandising.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, keep the location neat and clean, manage discounting, expenses, payroll and repair departments.
- Design a work schedule that balances opening/closing shifts, sales requirements, customer traffic, coverage and coaching time; adjust hours during peak periods.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years of college (preferred).
- At least 3 years of retail sales experience, or 2 years of retail sales plus at least 1 year of retail management experience. Preference for specialty retail or jewelry experience; DCA certification is a plus.
- Advanced communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficient with computers, MS Office and related business tools.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, problem‑solving and conflict‑management skills.
- Professional communication via email, social media, video conference, phone and text.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, delegate and meet deadlines independently.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Physical demands: stand, reach, lift up to 10 pounds, sit, stoop, bend, kneel or crouch; visual acuity for gemstone quality assessment; weekend, evening, holiday and extended hours required.
Base pay: $50,000 – $67,800 plus commission on sales. Final pay rate is based on experience and qualifications.
