This is a split Transportation Worker position. This Position will serve on a Augusta based Striping / Stencil Crew in summer responsible for painting pavement markings. Summer work involves Statewide travel and required overnight stay-away and overtime, the use and preventative maintenance of hand power tools and related heavy equipment to perform assigned duties and will also serve on the Mercer Maintenance Crew out of Region 3 in winter.

In winter the pay and responsibilities of this position will align with other Region 3 Transportation Worker pay and duties and will include plowing snow and responding to emergencies typical to Maine

DOT's normal operations. Winter work also includes the use and preventative maintenance of hand power tools and related heavy equipment to perform assigned duties and may require long hours of work. The incumbent must be able to be reached by landline/cell phone during off-duty hours in case of emergency or unscheduled work and must live within a reasonable distance from winter headquarters.

Work is performed under direct supervision. Preference will be given to applicants with construction and maintenance experience.
