Role and Responsibilities
Arigger’s primary responsibility is to ensure that heavy materials, machinery, and structural components are removed safely and efficiently on a construction site. This involves:
Load Assessment and PreparationEvaluating the weight, size, shape, and center of gravity of materials to ensure stability during lifting.
Equipment Handling and SetupSelecting and setting up rigging equipment such as cranes, slings, pulleys, hoists, shackles, and winches.
Rigging System AssemblyConfiguring lifting systems to balance loads and prevent accidents.
Safety ComplianceFollowing strict safety protocols, inspecting equipment, and coordinating with team members to prevent hazards.
Team CollaborationGuiding crane operators and other personnel during lifts to ensure precise placement of materials.
Importance in ConstructionRigging is essential for handling materials that are too heavy or awkward to move manually, such as steel beams, concrete panels, HVAC systems, and large machinery. Skilled riggers ensure that construction projects remain on schedule while minimizing the risk of accidents or damage to equipment and materials.
