Diesel Mechanic A

Transdev in Augusta, Maine is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic A to bolster our team. The position requires the knowledge and skills to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment, communicate effectively with employees and customers, perform daily safety inspections, minimize reworks, and maintain production standards with a focus on timeliness and quality.

Competitive hourly rate: $24.00 – $30.00 per hour.

• Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

• Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs.
• Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components.
• Engine repair and diagnosis; handle engine emission components (State certification).
• Repair driveline, electrical/electronic, brakes/suspension/steering/exhaust, cab/chassis, hydraulics and other system components.
• Use scan tools proficiently.
• Ensure work orders are properly completed and evaluate finished work prior to release.
• Select appropriate course of action for repairs.
• Maintain safe use of power and hand‑held tools.
• Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary.
• Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors.
• Participate in safety or educational training as required.
• Maintain continuous ASE/EVT re‑certification to remain in job classification.
• Other responsibilities as requested or required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license; a CDL license is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of direct automotive repair experience.
• Experience monitoring and meeting PM schedules and operating automotive repair shop equipment.
• Appropriate mechanic’s tool set.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
• Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing; compliance with DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40.

• Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and lifting light to heavy objects, climbing ladders/stairs/ramps or scaffolding, and using tools requiring manual dexterity.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds; occasionally lift more than one hundred (100) pounds.
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Endurance to withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties, and tolerance to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
