Core Responsibilities:
As a Financial Resources Specialist, you will help families improve their lives by providing them access to subsidies for childcare, enabling parents or guardians to work or attend school. You will obtain and evaluate information from families to complete determinations and re‑determinations of eligibility for childcare subsidies. You will ensure this information is entered into automated client information systems accurately and timely, initiate and monitor payments to providers, and communicate directly with families and providers to obtain information and explain unit, state, and federal rules, regulations, and policies.

- Work with eligibility determination systems or case management platforms.
- Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Manage competing priorities and deadlines in a high‑volume environment.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
- Utilize strong analytical and financial review skills.
A four‑year combination of education, training, and/or progressively responsible experience performing administrative and/or complex clerical tasks, including interviewing and data gathering skills needed to form the basis for judgments in eligibility determinations.

- Work‑Life Fit – 13 paid holidays, 12 days of sick leave, and 3+ weeks of vacation leave annually (vacation leave accrual increases with years of service). Overtime‑exempt employees receive personal leave.
- Health Insurance Coverage – The State of Maine pays 85%–100% of employee‑only premiums ($12,845.82 – $15,112.76 annual value), depending on salary.
- Health Insurance Premium Credit – Participation decreases employee‑only premiums by 5%.
- Dental Insurance – The State pays 100% of employee‑only dental premiums ($395.72 annual value).
- Retirement Plan – The State contributes the equivalent of 14.11% of the employee's pay to the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS).
- Parental Leave – Six weeks of fully paid parental leave for employees welcoming a child, with additional unpaid leave possibly available under the Family and Medical Leave Act.
