Rehabilitation Counselor I
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is seeking a Rehabilitation Counselor I. This position will work as part of a team with other Vocational Rehabilitation counselors across the state, conducting a significant portion of their work remotely. This position will focus on supporting students with disabilities (14-21) in Pre-Employment Transition Services activities such as career exploration, Virtual Job Club, work readiness and introduction to career pathways.
Position may be subject to fingerprinting. Due to the nature of the work, the position may be based at any Division of Vocational Rehabilitation office across the state with hybrid telework scheduling.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with schools, students, families, employers, and other stakeholders to deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services to students across the state.
- Using various virtual career exploration and preparation tools with individual youth and groups.
- Gathering and entering documentation into our case management system.
- Facilitating workshops and trainings for clients. Working with teams and individuals via Zoom and in person.
- Developing relationships with schools and providing workshops to youth.
- Supporting summer employment opportunities for youth.
Skills or knowledge required:
- Knowledge of disabilities.
- Knowledge of best practices in working with students with disabilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, individuals with disabilities, families, providers, schools and employers.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience using technology.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent prioritization, organization, and time management skills.
- Detailed documentation.
- Working in the community and in schools.
- Frequent local and occasional statewide travel.
Minimum qualifications:
A four (4) year combination of training, experience, and/or education in vocational rehabilitation program development and implementation.
