Vehicle Inspector

Overview

ACV Auctions is looking for an enthusiastic Inspector who loves cars and wants to join a growing company. Inspectors are the face of the company, explaining vehicle conditions to clients in an understandable way and ensuring a superior customer experience.

• Actively support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Partner with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors to conduct inspections at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease locations to detect damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.
• Prepare and submit reports of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
• Help the sales team up‑sell or cross‑sell services and products.
• Interface regularly with dealers to develop client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
• Travel to and from dealerships and homes to inspect vehicles, write condition reports, and list vehicles for sale on the auction platform.
• Take overall, damage, and multiple photos, match them to a vehicle, and upload them to the image server using the company‑issued smartphone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize the digital platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• 1 year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, and mechanical repair) with a customer service background.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work outdoors in the elements for extended periods.
• Problem‑solving aptitude and resourcefulness.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
• Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle.
• Knowledge of system capabilities and relevant web‑based applications.
• Ability to perform manual labor (standing for extended periods, lifting 25 lbs or more, bending, and squatting).
• Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
• Vision abilities required to properly identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.
