Business Services Professional (Open Rank Intermediate Senior Professional) Responsibilities
- Serve as departmental procurement lead, coordinating purchasing activities and monitoring expenditures.
- Participate in special projects involving operational assessments, process improvement, strategic planning, and resource allocation.
- Provide project management and analytical support for department-wide priorities and leadership initiatives.
- Assist with marketing and communications: newsletters, social media accounts, and external facing websites.
- Transform data into meaningful insights, recommendations, and visualizations for operational and strategic planning.
- Lead efforts to organize and optimize departmental technology platforms, including SharePoint, shared drives, Smartsheet, websites, and other operational systems.
- Develop, document, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with system access requests, technology onboarding, and operational technology support.
The Business Services Professional supports the Department of Dermatology's operational and strategic priorities through data analytics, reporting, process improvement, procurement, and project management activities. Working closely with departmental leadership, faculty, and staff, this position develops reports and dashboards, streamlines business processes, coordinates special projects, and supports operational initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the department. This individual exercises a high level of professionalism, discretion, and independent judgement while managing sensitive information and representing the department.
The Business Services Professional serves as a key resource for operational support, business analysis, and the successful execution of departmental priorities.
- A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- 1 year of professional-level experience in project management, operations, or administration in a professional environment.
- A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- 2 years of professional-level experience in project management, operations, or administration providing high levels of support in a professional environment.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, operations, or an executive-level administrative support role.
- Experience in an academic healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing office operations preferably in an education environment.
- Experience facilitating to faculty and staff within higher education and/or medical education environment including assistance with general operations.
- Experience working with University of Colorado software such as Concur and Peoplesoft.
- A master's degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Ability to manage and maintain complex, sensitive, and confidential information.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing, phone system knowledge, and etiquette.
- Strong sense of urgency and problem‑solving skills combined with the ability to prioritise projects.
- Ability to take direction and use independent judgement to coordinate various projects and meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to effectively explain processes and procedures.
