Step into a mission-driven leadership role that truly makes an impact as the Medical Director overseeing Adult Outpatient and Adult Intensive Services Psychiatry at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR), where you’ll guide a talented multidisciplinary team and help shape the future of behavioral health care for the Aurora community. In this Monday–Friday position, you’ll lead with purpose—supporting innovative outpatient service lines, elevating clinical quality, and fostering integration with primary care—while also investing in the next generation of mental health professionals through supervision, teaching, and mentorship.

Salary for this role

Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full-time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Fewerthan 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE. Salary is also based on years of licensure and company equity.

Bilingual Language Differential Pay

* Rate depends on language requirements for the position and candidate's fluency.

  • 5% of base salary up to a maximum of $3,000/year - The annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full time equivalency (FTE).

This role is for those who enjoy working with a team to arrive at solutions to complex health care problems at both the individual and systems level.

Schedule

This role follows a Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule with a hybrid work arrangement
. While there is flexibility to work from home, on‑site presence is essential when leadership responsibilities or patient care needs require it.

The Medical Director is expected to be in the office when AMHR leadership activities or clinical operations dictate.
Mandatory in‑person meetings are typically scheduled in advance, but occasionally may arise unexpectedly and will require on‑site attendance.

Essential Functions
  • Senior Leadership Accountabilities:
    Lead a team of managers or individual contributors. Ensure that managers provide focus and direction to their respective teams. Fosters development of leaders and creates a culture of accountability. Develop goals, strategic plans, company policies, and make decisions on the direction of the organization. Mobilize and influence external stakeholders and outside resources. Effectively communicate sr. leadership decisions and organizational strategy and plans to managers.

    Also, share key external updates with team. Set performance indicators.
  • Foster a culture of patient focused care, understanding that the quality of the relationship is a key factor in healing.
  • Champion staff collaboration and communication across the agency to provide outstanding patient care.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with community leaders to enhance continuity and integration of services.
  • Promote, encourage and model the practice of continuous improvement with a focus on patient experience, access, safety and treatment effectiveness.
  • Provide direct psychiatric services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of patients assigned, on a regular basis.
  • Provides direct supervision to medical team members, as necessary.
  • Participate in administrative duties as assigned, including chairing quality assurance or utilization review committees.
